ABC is a Sheffield band whose catalog moves between new wave, pop, soul, and rhythm and blues, with records issued through EMI. Traffic landed in 2008, The Lexicon of Love II followed in 2016, and Skyscraping arrived in 2024, a release pattern that keeps the group writing rather than trading only on the back catalog.
The band came together in 1980, built out of the earlier electronic group Vice Versa. That Sheffield origin still shapes the music: electronic bones underneath, soul and pop instincts on top.
Across its history the group has included Martin Fry, Dave Clayton, and David Palmer. ABC continues to play outdoor and civic stages including Bents Park, Millennium Square, and Victoria Park, which makes the band a straightforward fit for fair and festival lineups, casino showrooms, college programming, corporate dates, and private events.
