AC/DC is one of the best selling and most recognized hard rock bands in history, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame act whose blues based riffs and no-frills approach helped define classic rock across five decades. The catalog runs from High Voltage and Highway to Hell through 1980's Back in Black, certified 27 times platinum in the United States and ranked among the top three best selling albums ever released, to For Those About to Rock, The Razors Edge, Black Ice, Rock or Bust and 2020's Power Up, which debuted at number one in more than twenty countries. Rolling Stone has placed AC/DC in rock's pantheon alongside Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones, and the band has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide.
They came up loud and never let up. Formed in Sydney, Australia in November 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, AC/DC built their sound in pubs and clubs before original singer Bon Scott's death in 1980 nearly ended the band. Instead they hired singer Brian Johnson and released Back in Black within months, turning tragedy into their signature record. Malcolm Young wrote and played rhythm guitar on every album until his 2014 retirement and died in 2017, and the surviving members dedicated Power Up to him.
AC/DC's catalog was shaped by producers Harry Vanda and George Young in the early years, Mutt Lange on Highway to Hell, Back in Black and For Those About to Rock, and Brendan O'Brien on the band's most recent three albums, and the group won a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2010. Guitarist Angus Young and singer Brian Johnson currently lead the band on the Power Up Tour alongside Stevie Young, Chris Chaney and Matt Laug, a run that grossed more than 120 million dollars in the first half of 2026 alone and includes the highest grossing single concert of the band's career in Karlsruhe, Germany. With five decades of arena and stadium credibility and a catalog spanning hard rock, classic rock and blues rock audiences, AC/DC remains one of the most in demand rock acts available for corporate events, casino showrooms and private engagements built around genuine rock and roll history.
