Bloc Party are the London band behind Silent Alarm, the 2005 debut that defined a wave of angular, danceable indie rock. Featuring "Banquet," "Helicopter" and "Like Eating Glass," the album went Platinum, sold more than a million copies worldwide, was nominated for the Mercury Prize and was named NME's Album of the Year. Its follow-up, A Weekend in the City, reached No. 2 in the UK, and "The Prayer" became their biggest UK single at No. 4.
They are still led by the two friends who started it. Singer Kele Okereke and guitarist Russell Lissack formed the band in London in 1999, and today they are joined by drummer Louise Bartle and bassist Harry Deacon. In 2026 the band announced its seventh album, Anatomy of a Brief Romance, produced by Trevor Horn.
Bloc Party celebrated 20 years of Silent Alarm with a 2025 world tour and announced a new North American tour for 2026, playing stages like Merriweather Post Pavilion and Jones Beach. Their high-energy show makes them a strong fit for festival and fair lineups, college programming, corporate events and private shows.
