Bryant Barnes writes contemporary R&B that sits close to lo-fi and soul, quiet in the mix and direct in the writing. He arrived in 2023 with "Losing You," then made the jump to longer-form work with the EP VANITY in 2024 and SOLACE in 2025. VANITY debuted at number 13 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart, and the run from single to charting EP took barely two years.
He came to the piano before he came to the microphone. Born in Cypress, Texas, Barnes studied classical piano from around age six and picked up cello in middle school, all of it running alongside basketball until a torn ACL closed that door. Music got his full attention after that, and the training shows in how carefully the songs are built.
Barnes records for UMG and shared "I'd Rather Pretend" with d4vd in 2024. He works as a solo artist onstage, with credits at White Oak Music Hall, The Cambridge Room at House Of Blues, and Terminal West, the kind of rooms where the writing carries without volume.
