Buffalo Traffic Jam is Frankie Cassidy and Nathan Ross, a Montana pair who write from a new country and singer-songwriter center and let alternative rock, dance and electronic sounds pull at the edges of it. Their self-titled record in 2024 set that mix down on tape, and the run since has kept the pace up rather than settling, with Fool's Gold sharpening the writing and Pictures of You carrying the band into 2026. They record for SME.
They met in a college town. Cassidy and Ross were students at Montana State University in Bozeman when they started making music together, and the band has never really moved away from that beginning: two writers in the same room, working out songs one at a time. Bozeman is still where the name comes from.
On the road, the two have taken those songs from club stages like The Underground and The Windjammer out to open-air rooms such as Greenfield Lake Amphitheater, a range that suits a band comfortable both close-up and at amphitheater scale.
