Cashmere Cat is the solo project of Magnus August Høiberg, a Norwegian producer, DJ and turntablist who works in downtempo and abstract electronic territory with a foot in alternative R&B and future bass. He built his catalog across labels like LuckyMe, Mad Love and Interscope, and by the time of his full-length "9" he had stretched the woozy, melodic style that runs through singles like "Wild Love," "Trust Nobody" and "Miss You."
He came up behind the decks. Before the original productions and the remixes, Høiberg made his name in the DMC DJ championships between 2006 and 2009, competing his way out of Halden, Norway, and turning a turntablist's ear into a producer's signature.
That signature reaches well past his own records. His co-production on Tory Lanez' "Luv" earned him a Grammy nomination, the kind of credit that marks a producer whose touch other artists seek out. It makes Cashmere Cat a strong fit for festival and club lineups, college events, corporate dates, and private shows.
