Christopher Denny's music draws heavily from both gospel and country influences, fitting for an artist whose first musical experiences took place in his local church. The singer/songwriter, whose ethereal voice bears a resemblance to Antony of Antony and the Johnsons (and, to a lesser degree, Jeff Buckley), first picked up a guitar at the age of 14 and began writing songs soon after. A visit to his great-uncle's house led to the discovery of a Lefty Frizzell and Hank Thompson vinyl collection, which had a deep impact on the young musician. With the blessing and gift of a guitar from his grandfather, also a musician, Denny embarked on his own musical career.
