Dokken is a hard rock and heavy metal band named after its founder and vocalist, Don Dokken. The group came up during the heavy metal boom of the 1980s, when Elektra put its glam metal records into the hands of a mass audience, and it has kept releasing music for four decades since. Return to the East Live 2016 documented that long run onstage in 2018, and Heaven Comes Down arrived in 2023.
The band has been at this since 1979. It started in Los Angeles, where the Whisky A Go Go remains part of its live history, and the catalog stretches back far enough that a 2020 release, The Lost Songs: 1978 to 1981, is drawn from material written before the band's first album. Beast from the East was certified Gold in the United States.
Dokken has been a working quartet built around Don Dokken, with guitarists George Lynch, John Norum, and Reb Beach among the players who have held the chair, plus bassist Juan Croucier. Recent stages include the Golden Nugget Showroom and River City Casino, which makes the band a straightforward fit for casino showrooms, fair and festival lineups, college events, corporate dates, and private engagements.
