Gretel Hänlyn is a 19 year old singer from London. Having been raised on a diet of Nick Cave she picked up a guitar & started writing her own gothic stories and songs at age 11. As she grew as a musician, started going to gigs & fell in love with Tim Buckley, Nirvana and then Wolf Alice, her songwriting began to morph into what it is today; a mix of hi-fi grunge, goth-pop and alt/indie ballads. Gretel released her first EP in May 2022, moving quickly from total unknown to the darling of BBC 6Music where she quickly racked up over 100 spins and a daytime playlist. She was also made Track Of The Week on BBC Radio 1 with her EP single ‘Apple Juice’. Having sold her debut show out in a matter of hours and seen people queuing out the door for her first festival show at The Great Escape there seems to be little question of if, only when Gretel becomes the next global indie star.
