Guitarricadelafuente is the performing name of Álvaro Lafuente Calvo, a solo artist from Spain whose work sits between nuevo flamenco, pop, and folk-influenced Spanish and Latin American music. His catalog opens with the 2018 single "Catalina" and centers on "La cantera," the 2022 debut album he released after signing with Sony. "Spanish Leather" arrived in 2025.
He came to the guitar on his own. Born in Benicàssim in 1997, Lafuente taught himself to play through YouTube, then began uploading his own songs to it. "Catalina," "Guantanamera," and "Agua y mezcal" collected millions of plays before a label was involved, and that audience is what led Sony to him.
"La cantera" earned him a Latin Grammy nomination, and the touring since has moved between the Plaza de Toros de la Malagueta, Metropol Berlin, and Fabrique, with festival dates including Festival de Porta Ferrada. He works well for festival and fair lineups, college programming, corporate dates, and private events.
