Iron Reagan plays crossover thrash fast and mean, the kind of band that welds hardcore punk speed to metal heft and rarely lets a song outstay its welcome. The Richmond, Virginia outfit made its name on records that hit hard and land harder, and 2014's The Tyranny of Will is the one that broke through, reaching No. 22 on the Billboard 200. Worse Than Dead came first in 2013, and Crossover Ministry followed in 2017, all of it on Relapse Records.
They came up out of Richmond's deep punk and metal bench. Formed in 2012, Iron Reagan was built as a crossover thrash supergroup, drawing members and former members from Municipal Waste, Cannabis Corpse, Darkest Hour, A.N.S., and Hellbear. That pedigree is the whole point: this is a band of veterans who already knew how to write a riff and run a pit before the first song was finished.
Fronted by Tony Foresta with Philip "Landphil" Hall and Ryan Parrish among the lineup, Iron Reagan has carried that sound to stages like Chain Reaction in Anaheim and the Marquee Theatre.
