J-Kwon (real name: Jerrell Jones) is an American rapper and songwriter from St. Louis, Missouri. He is best known for his 2004 hit single "Tipsy", which reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
J-Kwon began his music career in his teenage years, and was discovered by producer Jermaine Dupri. In 2003, he signed to So So Def Recordings and released his debut album, "Hood Hop", the following year. The album received generally positive reviews and peaked at number 7 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The lead single from the album, "Tipsy", became a massive hit, selling over two million copies and earning J-Kwon widespread recognition. The song features a catchy hook and a fast-paced flow, and became a party anthem for many years. J-Kwon followed up "Hood Hop" with two more albums, "J-Kwon" (2009) and "Hood Hop 2" (2010), but neither achieved the same level of commercial success as his debut.
