Jan Blomqvist is a German producer and performer who works in melodic, melancholic house with a pop influence, along with the tech house and deep house edges of that same territory. Remote Control introduced the approach in 2016, Disconnected followed in 2018, and Mute arrived in 2025. He records for Kontor Records.
He came to electronic music through a rock band. Born Jan Freter and raised in Ahnsbeck, Blomqvist spent his early years playing live guitar and drums in the grunge and rock scene of northern Germany. Moving to Berlin changed the work, and he shifted his focus to producing techno and electronic music.
Blomqvist writes, produces, and performs as a solo artist. His festival credits include Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Burning Man, where a 2016 performance became a cornerstone of his North American exposure, and he has played rooms including Sala Apolo, Wanderlust, and Glendalough Estate. That mix of club dates and festival stages makes him a strong fit for festival lineups, college events, corporate programs, casinos, and private engagements.
