Jawbreaker is an American punk rock band that was formed in New York City in 1986. The band is known for their melodic punk rock sound, introspective and socially conscious lyrics, and their influence on the punk rock scene in the 1990s.
The original lineup of the band consisted of Blake Schwarzenbach on vocals and guitar, Chris Bauermeister on bass, and Adam Pfahler on drums. Over the course of their career, Jawbreaker released four full-length albums, as well as a number of singles and EPs.
Their third album, "24 Hour Revenge Therapy" (1994), is considered a seminal album of the punk rock genre, and helped to define the sound of the "emo" subgenre of punk rock that emerged in the mid-1990s. The album features some of the band's most well-known songs, including "Boxcar" and "Chemistry".
Despite their influence on the punk rock scene, Jawbreaker never achieved mainstream success, and the band broke up in 1996 due to creative differences. However, they continue to be revered by fans and fellow musicians alike, and their impact on the punk rock genre is still felt today.
