Jengi is a house producer whose records sit squarely in the middle of electronic dance music, and the last few years have been the stretch where the club tracks turned into hits. The World Trauma EP set the terms in 2021. Then came "Bel Mercy" in 2022, a single that went gold in the Netherlands and drew enough of a following to warrant its own remix release. By the time Nothing Is Easy landed in 2023, the arc was clear: a producer with a room-filling single behind him and no interest in repeating it.
He started early. Jan Theo Berendsen was still in high school when he began making tracks under the Jengi name, and he has been putting music out under that alias since at least 2014. The gold record, in other words, is not a first act. It is what a decade of work in the Netherlands looks like once the rest of the room catches up.
Jengi is a solo project, with Berendsen writing and producing on his own and releasing through WMG. The live side has taken him from Tomorrowland Winter to ZeyZey in Miami, which is a fair measure of the range: a set that works on a large festival stage and in a room where the crowd is close. That combination makes him a natural fit for college events, festival and fair lineups, corporate dates, casinos, and private engagements.
