Jersey never settled into one genre. The name carries a ska punk and pop punk catalog released through Raw Energy Records, opening with No Turning Back in 1997, and a parallel run of electronic, house and rave material that hits hardest on Generation Genocide in 2003. Active between 1996 and 2005, with a discography deep enough that no two records ask an audience to stand in quite the same place.
The sound starts with a radio dial. Brothers Carl and Renaud grew up on the Normandy coast pulling in BBC radio waves, and that habit of listening across the water is what shaped the electronic side of the project, sharpened later by their working years as producers for the French scene. Burlington sits on the record as the group's other point of origin, and the punk catalog reads like it.
Around the brothers, the working lineup has included Jordan Hastings and Greg Taylor, and the live history runs from Le Liberté to E1 London and out to the Plage Du Palais Des Festivals, a room-to-beach range that says plenty about how the material travels. That is the case for Jersey as a booking: a group whose punk records and dance floor material give a buyer two ways to program the same act, and a live act suited to college dates, festival and fair lineups, casino rooms, corporate events, and private engagements.
