Jodeci is an R&B and hip hop soul group that built its catalog on Uptown Records. Forever My Lady won the 1992 Billboard Music Award for Top R&B Album, its single "Come and Talk to Me" won Top R&B Song, and the group took Top R&B Artist in the same year. More than two decades later they returned with The Past, The Present, The Future in 2015, and they have kept working since.
They came up together before any of it. The group formed in 1988 in Charlotte, North Carolina, as a duo of DeVante Swing and JoJo, and grew when their brothers joined.
Dalvin DeGrate and Joel "Jo-Jo" Hailey round out the core alongside DeVante Swing, with Darryl "Day" Pearson among the wider lineup. Beyond the Billboard sweep, the group won the 1992 Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Album by a Group, Band or Duo for Forever My Lady, then took Best R&B/Soul Single in 1994 for "Lately." Their stage history runs from Ovens Auditorium to the O2 Arena and Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center, a range that suits casino showrooms, fair and festival lineups, college programming, corporate dates, and private events.
