Joshua Bassett is a pop and pop/rock singer-songwriter whose recording career began in earnest in 2020, when he signed with Warner Records and put out his debut single, "Common Sense," that April. The self-titled EP Joshua Bassett arrived the following year, and by the time The Golden Years came out in 2024 he had moved from teen pop and television soundtrack material into fuller contemporary pop/rock writing. The catalog is his own, front to back: he records as a solo artist under his full name, Joshua Taylor Bassett.
The Oceanside native has kept one foot in music and one on screen the whole way. His work as Ricky Bowen on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series won him a Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Male TV Star in 2022, and the songs from that series sit next to his own releases in a discography that now runs well past three dozen entries under the WMG umbrella.
That combination, a Warner Records catalog on one side and a television audience on the other, is what he brings to a stage. He has played rooms as intimate as Belly Up Tavern, which suits an artist whose songs work at close range as readily as they do in front of a crowd that grew up with the show.
