Justin Nozuka is a singer and songwriter whose catalog sits where folk, R&B, pop, and soul meet, often compared to James Morrison and Ray LaMontagne. He released his 2007 debut, Holly, named after his mother, who raised him and his six siblings on her own, and followed it in 2010 with You I Wind Land and Sea, which debuted at number one on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. Both albums went RIAA gold, and his duet "Heartless," recorded with French singer Zaho, made him a genuine star in France.
His roots run in both directions across the border. Nozuka was born in New York City and raised in Toronto after his parents' divorce, the sixth of seven children in a family of musicians, and the songwriting has carried the mark of both places since. Music runs in the family: his brother George also charted as a singer, and in 2025 Justin formed a new group, Noki Mori, with three more of his brothers, releasing their self-titled debut album together.
In 2011 he and Zaho won the NRJ Music Award for Groupe/Duo/Troupe Francophone de l'année for "Heartless," and he has picked up JUNO nominations for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Best Alternative Album along the way, with performances at Glastonbury, Fuji Rock, and on The Late Show with David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel Live! On stage he has played rooms including The Van Buren, DC9 Nightclub, and Delusional Bird, a range that makes him a straightforward fit for college programming, corporate events, festival and fair lineups, and private engagements.
