Katelyn Tarver is an American pop singer and songwriter whose work sits between alternative pop, indie pop, and pop rock. She has releases going back to Wonderful Crazy in 2005 and Brand New Day in 2006, and by the time Kool Aid landed in 2018 she was writing to a clearer, more direct register. Her debut album, Subject to Change, followed in 2021, more than a decade and a half after her first records.
Tarver came up out of Georgia and has worked in the entertainment industry since the 2000s. The path from her debut EP, A Little More Free, to that first full-length was a long one, built on steady releasing rather than a single break. Credits across her career list her under her full name, Katelyn Marie Tarver, and with the group American Juniors.
She records for Nettwerk and has taken the material to rooms that reward songwriting over spectacle, among them Mississippi Studios in Portland, Oregon, the Echoplex, and Cafe du Nord.
