Katharine McPhee is a Los Angeles pop and R&B singer whose catalog has never stayed in one lane. Unbroken, in 2010, was followed by the rock-leaning Hysteria in 2015 and then I Fall in Love Too Easily in 2017, with a holiday record in the mix along the way. She records for Disney Music Group.
The start of it was an audition. In 2005, encouraged by her parents and by Nick Cokas, her then-future husband, McPhee tried out for American Idol in San Francisco with "God Bless the Child" and was selected as a contestant for the fifth season. That season aired in 2006, and in May of that year she finished as its runner-up.
McPhee has since taken that voice into rooms of every size, from Kresge Auditorium and the Interlochen Center for the Arts to the Fox Tucson Theatre. She is a versatile live draw for college programming, corporate events, fair and festival lineups, casino stages, and private engagements, with a pop and R&B set that adapts to a theater seat count or a festival field, plus a holiday program for seasonal dates.
