Khamari is the recording name of Khamari Barnes, a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer working in R&B, neo-soul, and alternative soul for Encore Recordings. He introduced himself with Eldorado in 2020, then widened the frame with the full-length A Brief Nirvana in 2023 and returned with To Dry a Tear in 2025.
He came up in Dorchester, off Blue Hill Avenue. The training came first: classical music, piano, and jazz, followed by a brief stretch at Berklee College of Music. In 2017 he moved to Los Angeles to pursue music full time, and the range of that early study still shows in how much of the work he handles himself, from the writing to the playing to the production.
He carried A Brief Nirvana onto the road in 2024 as a headliner, with stops that included Gramercy Theatre, The Triffid, and Northcote Theatre. That mix of intimate theaters and club rooms makes him a natural fit for college programming, festival lineups, corporate dates, casinos, and private engagements looking for a soul-forward set.
