Kiasmos is an Icelandic electronic duo working in techno, IDM and microhouse, and it has been running since 2009. The project found its shape on Erased Tapes with the self-titled album Kiasmos in 2014, then took a decade to answer it with II in 2024. That gap tells you how deliberately the two of them work.
The duo's halves come from different starting points. Ólafur Arnalds is a BAFTA-winning Icelandic composer. Janus Rasmussen is a Faroese musician who came up in the electro-pop group Bloodgroup. Kiasmos is the meeting point.
Between records the duo has kept moving, touring Europe, Australia, Asia and North America, playing rooms such as E1 in London, and appearing as a featured artist at Europavox Festival. That live history makes Kiasmos a fit for festival lineups, performing arts centers, college programming, corporate events and private engagements.
