The King Khan & BBQ Show is a Canadian garage rock duo that pulls doo-wop, punk rock and soul into its garage rock. The self-titled debut landed in 2005, and by the time Invisible Girl arrived in 2009 the group's mix of raw guitar and traded vocals had become its calling card. Bad News Boys followed in 2015. The duo records for In The Red.
The pairing came out of Montréal. Arish "King" Khan and Mark Sultan played together in the Montreal band Spaceshits, and after that group dissolved in 1999 the pair kept going as a stripped-down act. They worked under this name from 2002 to 2010, stepped away, and picked it back up in 2011.
Khan handles guitar and vocals, Sultan plays drums and guitar and sings under the name BBQ, which is how the two of them cover the ground a full lineup usually needs. Their live work has taken them to rooms like First Avenue in Minneapolis, and that setup travels easily, making them a practical fit for college shows, festival and fair lineups, club dates and private events.
