King Lil G is the Los Angeles rapper Alex Gonzalez, a solo artist working in gangsta rap, Chicano rap, and Mexican-American hip hop. He has been releasing music since 2006, and the stretch from Lost in Smoke in 2013 to 90's Kid in 2015 and Paint the City Blue in 2018 marks the years his catalog took shape. He has turned down major-label offers to stay independent, building an audience of more than 800 million YouTube views along the way, and records for Compound Interest.
The city came first, and it came hard. Gonzalez was born in 1986 and raised in Inglewood by his Mexican mother alone; he joined the 18th Street gang as a teenager, dropped out of school, became a father while still a minor, and spent time in juvenile hall. He found his way out through music, inspired by Eazy-E, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg, and later launched the Sucio Movement to give other young people from rough environments a positive outlet.
He carries the show himself, and his stage credits stretch from intimate club dates to larger rooms like The Bellwether, the Nile Theater, and The Masquerade in Atlanta, a range that has him equally comfortable in a 300-seat room or a packed festival slot. That makes him a practical fit for college audiences, festival and fair lineups, casino rooms, and private events, with booking handled through Degy Entertainment.
