Kings of Leon is an American rock band whose sound moves across alternative rock, garage rock, and indie rock. Formed in Nashville in 1999, the group broke through the garage rock revival and grew into an arena act, a trajectory traced across records from Mechanical Bull (2013) to WALLS (2016) and, most recently, Can We Please Have Fun (2024) on Sony Music.
The band is a family affair, built by brothers Caleb, Nathan, and Jared Followill alongside their cousin Matthew Followill. The name comes from the first name Leon, shared by the brothers' father and grandfather. Caleb Followill fronts the group on lead vocals and rhythm guitar.
Their credentials run deep: Grammy wins for Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, plus Brit Award and NME Award honors and an induction into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.
