Kito is an Australian producer, songwriter, and DJ whose music sits where dance and pop meet, taking in house and dubstep along the way. She introduced herself with the Kito EP in 2010 and followed it a year later with the Sweet Talk EP, then went back to that song in 2017 for a psychedelic dub mix. Her catalog has run through Mad Decent.
She built the craft in stages. Born in Denmark, Western Australia, she started producing as a teenager on FruityLoops, then moved to Perth, where she studied music at TAFE, DJed in local clubs, and worked in a record store. That is a run of jobs that put her on every side of a dance record before she ever had one of her own out in the world.
The writing side of the work drew wider notice in 2020, when she was nominated for Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year (Los Angeles) at the Global APRA Music Awards. On stage she has played rooms as different as the Greek Theatre, Cow Palace, and Tunnel, a range that carries to festival and fair lineups, college programming, corporate dates, casinos, and private shows.
