Knife Party is an Australian electro house and dubstep duo whose catalog also runs through complextro and house. The project introduced itself in 2012 with the EP 100% No Modern Talking, issued digitally through Earstorm, then made its full-length statement with Abandon Ship in 2014. Its releases have come out through Earstorm and Big Beat.
The duo formed in Perth in 2011, and it started as a second outlet rather than a first one. Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen were already members of the electronic rock band Pendulum, and they built Knife Party while touring Pendulum's third album, Immersion, as a place for ideas that did not fit the Pendulum style.
Swire and McGrillen have kept those tracks certifying years after the fact. "Antidote" went triple platinum in Sweden in 2012 and gold in Canada in 2025, "Bonfire" was certified gold in New Zealand in 2022, and "Internet Friends" took gold in New Zealand in 2025. That kind of long tail makes the duo a sought-after live act for festival stages, college events, casino and corporate dates, and private engagements.
