Kwabs is a London singer working across soul, neo-soul, r&b, and electronica. He introduced himself with the single "Walk" in 2014 and followed it the next year with the album Love + War, released through Hand 5 Records. On record he is closer to an electronic songwriter than to the jazz musician his training would suggest, which is part of what makes the catalog hold together.
He came up through the jazz rooms. Born Kwabena Sarkodee Adjepong in London to Ghanaian parents, he grew up in Bermondsey in Southwark, where a school music teacher pointed him toward the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. He sang lead there for several years before going on to study jazz at the Royal Academy of Music.
Kwabs performs as a solo act and has carried the songs into venues as varied as St James the Great Church. The jazz grounding and the electronic instincts give him range across a room, and he works well as a booking for college programming, corporate events, festival and fair lineups, casinos, and private engagements.
