Lay Zhang, also known as Zhang Yixing, is a singer and producer from Changsha who moves between K-pop, Mandopop, C-pop, dance-pop, R&B, and electropop. He opened his solo career in October 2016 with the single "what U need?", followed with the full-length Namanana in 2018, and by 2021 was collecting hardware for the album East, which took both the People's Choice Award (Chinese) and a place on the Top 20 Albums of the Year (Chinese) list at the Asian Pop Music Awards.
