Lee Ann Womack is a country singer whose work sits between neotraditional country and country pop. Her 2005 album There's More Where That Came From took the Country Music Association Awards prize for Album of the Year, and she kept moving rather than repeating it, turning toward the leaner, harder-edged material of The Way I'm Livin' in 2014 and The Lonely, the Lonesome & the Gone in 2017. She records under UMG.
She came to the music honestly. Womack grew up in Jacksonville, Texas, where her father worked as a country radio DJ, which put her in front of the genre and its history early.
Her best-known collaborations are with two of the form's fixtures: "Mendocino County Line" with Willie Nelson, which won the Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration in 2003 after taking Vocal Event of the Year from the Country Music Association Awards in 2002, and "Good News, Bad News" with George Strait, named Musical Event of the Year in 2005. She was also named Female Vocalist of the Year in 2001, and "I May Hate Myself in the Morning" was Single of the Year in 2005.
