Leven Kali is a singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist working in R&B, neo-soul, and the looser alternative and indie corners of both. He has been releasing music since at least 2017, and the arc since then runs from HIGHTIDE, the album he put out in May 2020, through the shorter and moodier LET IT RAIN EP in October 2022, to LK99: The Prelude in June 2025, a project whose title says plainly that he considers the next chapter still ahead of him. He records under UMG.
The mix in the music comes honestly. He was born in the Netherlands, raised in Santa Monica, and now works out of Los Angeles, and he has described his songs as a reflection of the different cultures and backgrounds inside his own identity. Because he sings, writes, produces, and plays, the records carry one point of view all the way through rather than a committee's.
Live, he has built his following in rooms that reward a singer who can carry a night on voice and arrangement: Neumos, Brick and Mortar Music Hall, and The Roxy Theatre.
