Lil Mama is a Harlem rapper who works the seam between pop rap and East Coast hip hop. "Lip Gloss" broke in 2007 and did what a first single rarely does: it turned a teenager into a name, and it set up her 2008 debut album, VYP: Voice of the Young People. She kept the title literal.
