Lloyd is an R&B singer whose work sits at the meeting point of contemporary R&B and hip hop soul. His album Street Love carries an RIAA platinum certification in the United States, and the catalog around it has moved through a long run of label homes, from Universal Motown to Interscope to EMPIRE.
He started young. Born Lloyd Harlin Polite Jr. in New Orleans in 1986, he got his first professional footing in the Atlanta-based boy band N-Toon, then stepped out on his own and signed with Irv Gotti's The Inc. That is an unusual apprenticeship for an R&B lead, group harmony first and solo billing second, and it shows in how he builds a vocal.
