Local H is the Illinois hard rock duo behind the '90s alt-rock staple "Bound for the Floor," which reached No. 5 on Billboard's Alternative chart and powered their 1996 Island Records album, As Good as Dead, past 300,000 copies. Three decades later they are still making loud, sharp records, from 2008's Twelve Angry Months to LIFERS, produced by Steve Albini in 2020, and ReFisted, a 2025 re-recording of their 1995 debut, Ham Fisted.
Two guys make all that noise. Scott Lucas and drummer Joe Daniels started jamming as high school friends in Zion, Illinois, in 1987, and Lucas rigged his guitar with a bass pickup so the pair could sound like a full band. Brian St. Clair and, since 2013, Ryan Harding have followed Daniels behind the kit, with Lucas leading every lineup.
Their reputation rests on the live show. Local H opened five dates of Metallica's WorldWired Tour in 2017, played halftime at a Chicago Bears playoff game, appeared at Shaky Knees in 2021 and keeps fans coming back with an annual New Year's Eve show in Chicago. From theaters like The Van Buren and The Fillmore to fairground stages, they are a strong fit for fair and festival lineups, college programming, casinos and private events.
