Lucius is a New York City indie rock band built around the paired voices of Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig. Rolling Stone named the group a "Band to Watch" ahead of Wildewoman in 2013, and the catalog since has moved steadily outward from that first notice, through Second Nature in 2022 and the self-titled Lucius in 2025. The band records for Mom + Pop Music, and its work sits in the space where indie rock meets adult alternative pop.
The partnership began in a classroom. Wolfe and Laessig met as students at Berklee College of Music, and the band itself came together only after the two moved to Brooklyn. Lucius has been active since 2005, which makes the two-decade run of a shared vocal identity, not a solo career with backing, the through-line of everything that followed.
Peter Lalish, Dan Molad and Andrew Burri round out the group onstage, and Pitchfork has called Lucius "a stylish presence on the tour and festival circuit." That circuit runs from festival grounds to seated rooms: the Filene Center at Wolf Trap, the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, and the Levitt Pavilion are all on the touring record. It makes Lucius a versatile live booking for festival and fair lineups, college programming, performing arts center series, and private engagements.
