Ludacris is the stage name of Christopher Brian Bridges, a southern hip-hop artist whose sound runs through dirty south, trap rap, and pop rap. Working on his own label Disturbing tha Peace and on Def Jam Recordings, he built a run of studio albums that stretches from Release Therapy through Ludaversal in 2015, and stayed prolific enough that the catalog keeps deep with releases like Vitamin D in 2017.
Born in Champaign, Illinois, in 1977, he moved to Atlanta during his high school years and started out there as a radio DJ before turning to records of his own. That grounding in a working booth shaped a rapper who could carry both the club and the collaboration.
Ludacris co-founded Disturbing tha Peace and is a three-time Grammy Award winner, taking Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Yeah!" in 2005 and, in 2007, Best Rap Song for "Money Maker" and Best Rap Album for Release Therapy, alongside an MTV Video Music Award.
