Luke Hemmings is an Australian singer and songwriter working in pop rock, power pop, and alternative rock, with solo material that leans on a baroque pop influence. He released When Facing the Things We Turn Away From in 2021 and followed it with boy in 2024, two records written under his own name rather than the pop punk banner of 5 Seconds of Summer, the group he founded in 2011.
He came to it early. Hemmings was born in Freemans Reach, Australia in 1996 and spent part of his teenage years busking around his hometown, and by 2011 he had put together 5 Seconds of Summer, the pop group he has been a member of since.
In 2024 he also issued Nostalgia (Live from Los Angeles), a live document of the solo songs. Between the band catalog and the quieter writing of his own albums, Hemmings is a strong fit for college programming, festival and fair lineups, corporate dates, and private engagements.
