Magdalena Bay is an American alternative pop duo whose synth-pop has grown steadily more ambitious across a decade of releases. The 2020 project A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling showed the pair working out their sound in public, and the 2021 album Mercurial World turned that experimenting into a full statement. By the time Imaginal Disk arrived in 2024, the duo had settled into the version of themselves they had been circling since 2016.
They built it all themselves, and they built it young. Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin met in high school in Miami, Florida, and have written and produced together ever since, a partnership that moved with them to Los Angeles, California.
Tenenbaum and Lewin release through Mom+Pop Music and handle the writing and production side by side rather than handing it off. On the road they have played rooms as varied as Elliott Hall of Music, Indiana University Auditorium, and Rockefeller, which makes them a natural fit for college programming, festival and fair lineups, corporate events, and private engagements.
