Medium Build is Nick Carpenter's project, working across indie folk, indie pop, and folk rock. The catalog starts with Falling Apart in 2016 and runs through Wild in 2019, a stretch of records made and released well ahead of any label attention. That attention came in 2023, when Medium Build signed with slowplay / Island Records.
The project began in Anchorage, as the name Carpenter attached to four-track recordings about a decade before that signing. The songwriting has stayed the center of it. Early rooms like The Bear Tooth Theatrepub gave way to larger stages, and by 2024 the live show had reached Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival.
Carpenter has since taken Medium Build to Forest Hills Stadium, Jiffy Lube Live, and Xfinity Center, carrying a catalog of more than two dozen releases into venues of that size. It makes for a live act that works on festival and fair lineups, at college events, and for corporate and private engagements.
