Megadeth is an American thrash metal band that Dave Mustaine, the group's vocalist and guitarist, formed in Los Angeles in 1983 after his departure from Metallica. The catalog runs from old school thrash into heavy metal and rock across more than three dozen releases, and the band's later work has kept it in the front rank of the genre it helped define: Dystopia arrived in 2016 and won the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance at the 59th Grammy Awards, The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead! followed in 2022, and a self-titled album is set for 2026.
