Modeselektor is a Berlin electronic duo of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, working across techno, electro, and IDM. The pair took their name from a function on the Roland Space Echo, and they have been releasing music since the mid-2000s, from the early Hello Mom! (2005) to Happy Birthday! (2007) and on to Monkeytown in 2011, the record that landed as runner-up in Resident Advisor's readers' poll for Album of the Year.
Bronsert and Szary met in Berlin in 1992, when Szary was playing live acid house at illegal underground parties, and the two soon began making music together. Their roots are in that early-nineties Berlin scene, and the project grew out of it over years of work.
The duo released through BPitch Control and have curated the sea lake stage lineup at MELT! Festival across multiple years. Their live show has carried them to rooms like EartH in Hackney, Muffathalle, and Felsenkeller Leipzig's Ballsaal, making them a strong fit for festival lineups, club nights, corporate events, and private engagements.
