Mon Rovîa is the solo project of Janjay Lowe, a Chattanooga songwriter whose work sits in a strain of folk he describes as Afro-Appalachian, with indie folk, folk-pop and Americana running through it. He has been building the catalog since Days With No Sunlight in 2018, sharpened it with Sunburnt in 2020, and follows it with Bloodline in 2026. He records for Nettwerk.

The name carries the story. Lowe was born in Liberia during the civil war and adopted at age seven by Christian missionaries, who brought him to the United States. He took the stage name Mon Rovîa as a stylized reference to Monrovia, the Liberian capital, to keep those roots in front of the music rather than behind it.

His Grand Ole Opry debut came in late July 2026 in Nashville, where he performed "Heavy Foot," and he has played rooms including Higher Ground and the State Theatre. He performs as a solo artist, which makes him a straightforward booking for college programming, festival and fair lineups, corporate dates, and private events.
