ODESZA is the Seattle electronic duo of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight, working a lane that runs from chillwave into future bass and progressive house. In Return arrived in 2014 and set the template; A Moment Apart in 2017 pushed the sound to festival scale; The Last Goodbye, released in 2022 on Ninja Tune, closed the loop. Each of the latter two drew a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album, and In Return earned a Gold certification in New Zealand.
The origin is not a scene story. Mills and Knight were classmates at Western Washington University when they started the project in 2012, and they named it after a ship that belonged to Mills' uncle. The ship sank. His uncle and one crew member survived.
Mills records as Catacombkid and Knight as BeachesBeaches, and the two also work together as BRONSON. On stage the duo has scaled from clubs to major electronic festivals worldwide and to Madison Square Garden in New York City, which makes them a live act suited to festival and fair lineups, college programming, casino rooms, and private engagements.
