Passenger is the stage name of English singer-songwriter Michael David "Mike" Rosenberg, who has recorded and toured under it since 2003 in a lane that touches folk, folk pop, indie folk, and alternative rock. All the Little Lights is the record that moved his songwriting into rooms far larger than the ones he started in, and the releases have kept coming since, including Sometimes It's Something, Sometimes It's Nothing at All in 2019 and Songs for the Drunk and Broken Hearted in 2021.
He learned the instrument before he learned the circuit. Born in Brighton in 1984, Rosenberg took classical guitar lessons as a child, left home at 16, and spent his early years busking around England and Australia, playing for whoever stopped walking. That street-level apprenticeship still shapes the writing: songs built to hold a crowd's attention without much between the voice and the guitar.
The certifications track how widely that approach traveled. All the Little Lights went Platinum with the BPI, 2x Platinum with ARIA in Australia, Platinum with BVMI in Germany, Gold with IFPI Switzerland, Gold with MC in Canada, and Platinum with the RIAA. In 2018 he headlined opening night of the Calgary Folk Music Festival, and his stage history spans venues as different as the Minack Theatre and the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
