Pat McGee Band has spent its career splitting the difference between rock, folk, and pop, a sound rooted in the kind of songcraft that holds a room. The Richmond, Virginia group announced itself with Revel in 1997 and sharpened it on Shine three years later, then signed to Giant Records and kept the run going through Save Me. By the time These Days (The Virginia Sessions) arrived in 2007, the band had built a catalog deep enough to draw from for years.
It started with one person and a college town. Pat McGee formed the band in 1996 after his time at Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia, and put his name on the marquee as frontman, lead vocals and guitar. What grew around him was a working rock band rather than a solo act with a backing crew.
McGee leads a lineup that includes guitarist Brian Fechino and Chardy McEwan, the players who have carried the songs from the studio to the stage at rooms like City Vineyard at Pier 26. That makes Pat McGee Band a dependable live booking for festival and fair lineups, college events, corporate dates, and private shows.
