Peach Pit is an indie pop band out of Vancouver, working the jangle pop and surf rock end of the genre with two guitars at the center of it. Being So Normal arrived in 2017 and laid out the sound. You and Your Friends followed in 2020 and From 2 to 3 in 2022, three records that trace a group settling into its own shape rather than chasing a new one. The band records for SME.
The group assembled in pieces. Neil Smith and Chris Vanderkooy began the project as a two-person effort in 2014, splitting vocals, guitar and keyboards between them, and it stayed that way for two years. In 2016 bassist Peter Wilton and drummer Mikey Pascuzzi joined, the four of them took the name Peach Pit, and the band has been active under it ever since.
Smith sings lead and plays rhythm guitar. The lineup has held together through the whole run, which shows in the live work: Peach Pit has been booked at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and has played rooms including the Commodore Ballroom, The Observatory and the Quarry Amphitheater. That range, club stages through festival fields, makes them a practical booking for college campuses, festival and fair lineups, corporate events and private shows.
