Plaid are an English electronic duo whose work helped define intelligent dance music, the abstract, breakbeat-laced strain of techno that became one of Warp's signatures. Andy Turner and Ed Handley have built a long catalog on the label, from the warm melodic textures of Reachy Prints in 2014 through The Digging Remedy in 2016 and on to Polymer in 2019 and Stem Sell in 2021.
The two came up together as founding members of The Black Dog before stepping away to make Plaid their main project, and they have stayed at it since the early 1990s. That longevity shows in a discography deep enough to span decades while keeping the same restless, melodic approach to electronic composition.
Their live work has carried that sound to rooms as varied as London's Queen Elizabeth Hall, the BFI London IMAX Cinema, and The Drumsheds, alongside festival appearances including Optronica.
