Prentiss is the project of Prentiss Furr, a self-taught artist from Jackson, Mississippi whose music moves across pop, alt-pop, and the looser edges of hip-hop and glitch. He came to music sideways, channeling an early interest in digital art and video editing into production he started experimenting with as a teenager. The 2020 single "October" was the breakthrough, arriving alongside "Circles" and "Rock With It" that same year and the later "hey prentiss" in 2022.
A solo artist working without formal training, Prentiss built his sound on his own terms before sharing it widely. His festival appearances include Lollapalooza in Chicago and When We Were Young in Las Vegas, and that range makes him a strong fit for college events, festival and fair lineups, corporate dates, and private engagements.
