Queen Key is a Chicago rapper working in trap, hip-hop, and drill-influenced rap, and she has built one of the more prolific catalogs to come out of the city's rap scene. Your Highness 2 arrived in 2021, EMPRESSIV followed in 2022, and Watch This landed in 2025, with more than twenty other releases stacked around them. Her music comes out through Open Shift Distribution.
She started early. Born Ke'Asha McClure in the Chicago area in June 1996, she was rapping by around age seven, making mixtapes with her brother on a tape deck using radio recordings and a keyboard. The Queen Key name came later, once she began taking rap seriously, and the do-it-yourself instinct behind those first tapes has stayed with the work.
Queen Key performs as a solo act, carrying a full set on her own voice and presence, and she has taken that show to rooms including The Joy Theater and Iron City in Birmingham. That makes her a strong fit for college programming, festival and fair lineups, casino stages, and private engagements looking for a hip-hop headliner with a deep catalog to pull from.
